So according to Livejournal, it's been 23 weeks since I last had an entry. Not anymore! But i'm making a move over to wordpress at ngyilian.wordpress.com. I won't be making updates here anymore - only at wordpress. Too much hassle making more than one post. So if you still wanna get updates of how I've been, see me at the new site ok? :

Slim's wedding

I loved Sat night. Other than a few missing ones, I saw the same old girls I used to work with at CLEO. Everyone was the same, if not lovelier. Knowing Slim, the venue was out-of-the-world beautiful, especially for me since I'm such a sucker for gorgeous colonial bungalows. This one was on top of a slope at Goodwood Hill and our short ride up to the venue was guided by some beautiful candles. Daph, Chiang and I were like "Hmmm, I'm impressed, Slim." hahahaha

And the wedding couple had Shania's 'From This Moment' playing before they marched in and I threw Chiang a wtf facial expression cos knowing Slim and her music preferences, Shania?!?!?

And that girl didn't let us down, that song was a mislead (but knowing Slim, it's probably meant to be a mockery as well. haha!) and shortly after, a more apt march-in music for the couple came on. Dave (Slim's now-husband!) even belted out a love song for Slim. How romantic, except he was a reeeaaallly lousy singer. He was so bad that it was so good. Everyone couldn't stop laughing and I couldn't even remember the title of the song he sang cos I was so busy cracking up.

Debs gave an impromptu speech and we were all so impressed! Trust Debs to not let the evening go without a boisterous yum seng. Hahahahaha

The food was yummy but we were all so busy catching up, Chiang and I ended up pretty hungry just an hour later.

Daph, Chiang and I picked Belle up at SAM, where she was "very happy, hanging out with the statues", in Chyi Chyi's short car and headed to Arab Street to meet more pals and it turned out to be a late evening of missed companies, good convos mixed with some really silly debates (about selling Jay's concert tixs) and charade in the form of me lip sync-ing Jay's songs and having Belle, Chiang and Gabe guessing the song titles.

3am arrived and it felt like we could still go on for another few hours.

So we headed off and I went to bed, after flipping through the jan 08 issue of InStyle, with a smile on my face.

Who can ever get enough of beautiful evenings and wonderful company?

I can't believe it's been 3 months since I lost logged in. I used to make an effort to remember some thoughts so I could blog about them later but I hadn't been feeling that for a while... till yesterday.

I was on the ECP on the way for an event when I saw that the sea at East Coast Parkway was blue-green! Like seriously light greenish blue. For as long as I could remember, it's always been dark blue or grey.

And against the dark stormy clouds, the juxaposition of the sea and the sky was just so beautiful.

But just like the way beauty always is, it was so fleeting.

I lost sight of it in less than 3 seconds, no thanks to the speeding car.

Hmmm, how could i possibly squeeze whatever happened in 3 months within one blog entry?

Not possible.

But whatever it is, as hard as life, work and people could get sometimes, it's always a learning curve and I'm still as cheery and thankful as ever.

And I still can't get enough of whatever life has planned.

went furniture shopping with daddy and mum yesterday
and yipee!
dad bought me a steamer.
i know it's just a steamer
but to me, it's an indulgence
and i banked on the fact that mummy no longer need to iron my clothes
since they're mostly light materials
i can use my steamer!
it's fast and fuss-free
and the best part is,
i can add clothes' fragrance into the water container
and all my clothes will be sweet-smelling!

and dad was so funny
i asked him,
"why don't i buy the steamer myself and you buy your sunglasses yourself?"
and he replied,
"but i've already told everyone my daughter is buying me a pair of Ray Ban's"
which i haven't
but i guess i really have to now.

the parents spurlged on a Simmons bed
and i'm still contemplating this and that for my room
so daddy gave me a sum and told me
"Go settle yourself"
and i'm tempted to buy the latest miu miu bag that i'm lusting after
and run away

yaayyyyyy

and shop till you drop has arrived!
it made arriving home after working till 11pm a delight
and to have mum making chicken rice just for moi
even tho i ate the heated-up version,
it was still yummy

reminded me of seeing the parents
having their arms around each other last night
and them teasing each other
while looking at the furniture
makes my heart flutter still

seriously,
with such a shining example
how can i ever become jaded with love?

ok, back to fluffy stuff
i just collected my pair of matte-black foldable wayfarer's
yipee!
more sunglasses and spectacles please!
I've gotten 6 new pairs of frames within 2 months (but some are free waaat)
and maybe after another pair or two of sunglasses,
it'll be time to stop.

gawd, i just can't get that opening song of hairspray out of my head.
and i wish i can wear my full-circle vintage skirts and dresses everyday
without my colleagues wondering what's up with me.

it's 5.30am and i'm still not asleep.
i think the buzz and laughter of the entire night are keeping me awake.

i'm stalking my niece's and her toddler friends' blogs
and man, she's totally growing into a monkey with her many many expressions
she even proclaimed a very loud "ME!!!!" whenever we ask, "who's a monkey?!?!"

i'm still alive?!

omg, after two weeks of 12-hour days for 6 days a week, i'm actually still alive!
and till 5am on Tuesday with Karen in the office
it was bonding time with the office 'residents'
I could totally feel their presence around me but I was chirpy so i guess they left me be

given the amount of work and the hours,
i'm still really motivated and happy at work
but such hours leave me feeling sombre and pensive
and i don't know why

and thanks to the response on the calling for interns
i've got quite a number of emails
I shld be able to respond to some by tomorrow
and hopefully she'll come in by the week after

And this is what happens when i'm alone in my section...
I love the Tom Ford ones but it's blardy $700
and as much as I hate to admit it,
DVB does have some really nice shades
annd i do really love the vintage linda farrow ones
but they're allll so expaaaansive......

thank god i could still find time for some loved ones
cos if not, I would totally have gone off my head
and thank god too for a good friend's company in the office
knowing that she's there (tho not alllll the time) and accessible makes any drama confide-able

i'm thankful too that i have a great boss and great colleagues
when i first joined, i didn't feel about them the way i do now
but i told myself it's ok, i'm here to work, not to make friends
so it's a bonus things have became way better than i expected

boss is so encouraging and understanding of the workload i have this month
i don't mind it, really.
but just hard to keep up with it and when i don't,
i get demotivated and discouraged by myself

but i've been getting good opportunities to prove my worth
and i think so far, so good.
i love the fact that i have someone to look up to when it comes to my fashion stories at work
he's brutally honest but i love it

and oh! i'm heading to Korea (thanks Jules!) and Hong Kong!
yipee, more work junkets please (if my load allows it, that is)
i wanna travel and travel and travel
both trips are happening within the next two months
and i can't wait cos i haven't been to korea and Hong Kong was a transit for me, so not counted!
i'm hoping Daph and/or Karen could go to korea too
so we can all shop and spa till we drop
and check out hot korean babes
and OD on korean dramas
tho i told sue tat karen "doesn't deserve it!" (hahahaha) cos she gets to go to Paris for Fashion Week in Oct
i'm envious
but it's ok. i can live vicariously through her!

and hopefully, next yr, i get to go to do Germany with Karen
and Spain with Sue or Karen
or even alone
or or or......

So it's between my 2.55 or travel experiences.
Sigh.
I think travel experiences win.
